Country and golf clubs are the best of both worlds because they’re a venue and an outdoor location all in one!

We are always excited to work at the Esplanade Lakes by Doubletree…What a unique location! We recently had the pleasure of meeting up with Catering Manager, Lisa Cosgrove, who has been in the industry for over 20 years and with the Doubletree for over eight! She gave us the “in” to what the Doubletree Downers Grove venues can offer future brides and grooms.
Tell us about the events make up the business at the Doubletree Downers Grove:
We do about 85% social events (80% being weddings) and about 15% corporate.
Wow! You are one busy lady! Tell us about the event space:
We have 2 ballrooms, one on premise here at the Doubletree Hotel Downers Grove and one off premise at Esplanade Lakes. Both have capabilities for indoor ceremonies.
Esplanade Lakes space is very unique. It is round and has floor to ceiling windows. It is often referred to as the “City in the Suburbs”.
The Doubletee Hotel has a beautiful ballroom! The nice part of holding a wedding at the hotel is that the cocktail hour is always in our beautiful atrium area.
What do your wedding packages include?
We include A LOT. Premium bar, chair cover with sash and floral centerpieces are included in all our packages.
What makes your hotel stand out amongst the others?
We will only take one wedding a night at each of the two locations so you are not running into guests from another event or sharing the same space. This allows our brides to have more one-on-one service and it makes it more personal.
Sounds really special. What types of trends are you seeing from brides to make their day special?
Many brides are choosing to cut their cake as soon as they walk into the room. We are also seeing some really unique candy and late night snack tables and lots of photobooths.
What is one of the most memorable weddings you have worked on?
We had a bride come in on a horse and buggy once…it was breath-taking. We also have had some weddings that had fireworks, which is always a huge hit.
It sounds like the Doubletree Hotel Downers Grove or Esplanade Lakes is a great venue to check out for your special day! For more information contact them at 630-971-2000 or visit
Thanks Lisa!
We honor the brave men and women of our military, past and present. The tremendous sacrifice made by them and their families is appreciated beyond measure. Every one of them is a hero!
